The controversy began at Heathrow Airport in London where he threatened to detonate a bomb.  During that time Richie was angry after not being allowed on a flight and claimed that he had a bomb in his bag. Richie said that if he was not allowed to board he would detonate the bomb.

When the security showed up, he allegedly got into an agreement and punched one of the guards. After that, the police arrived at the scene and detained him. On January 19, 2019, Richie accepted a caution for communicating false information causing a bomb hoax.
